Our AI has been trained to recognise common grocery items across these languages, meaning that whether your receipt shows "Tomaten" in German, "tomates" in French, or "pomodori" in Italian, our system will understand and categorise it correctly. This currency support ensures that regardless of where you shop, SpendScan can accurately track your spending. The system automatically detects the currency from your receipt and converts all amounts appropriately, making it easy to track spending even if you shop in multiple currencies.

Currency recognition is particularly important for accurate spending analysis. By correctly identifying the currency, SpendScan ensures that your spending totals are accurate and that you can compare spending across different time periods or locations without confusion.

The format you choose doesn't affect the accuracy of our analysis—our AI can extract information equally well from photos, scanned images, or PDF files. This flexibility means you can use whatever method is most convenient for you, whether that's taking a quick photo with your phone or uploading a digital receipt you received via email.

Multi-Page PDF Support: Upload receipts with multiple pages (up to 10 pages). Our AI automatically validates that all pages belong to the same receipt and processes them together as a single transaction.

📏 File Size & Quality Requirements

Our AI automatically checks image quality and will alert you if there are any issues like poor lighting, blur, or incorrect orientation, giving you a chance to take another photo.

SpendScan is a Progressive Web App (PWA) that works in all modern web browsers. This approach means you don't need to download separate apps for different devices—one web-based platform works everywhere. PWAs combine the best of web and native apps, offering fast performance, offline capability, and the ability to install to your home screen for quick access.

The PWA technology means SpendScan is always up to date—you automatically get the latest features and improvements without needing to update an app. This also means SpendScan works consistently across all your devices, whether you're using a phone, tablet, or computer, ensuring a seamless experience regardless of how you access the platform.

📱 Mobile & Installation

SpendScan is fully responsive and optimised for mobile devices. You can install it directly to your home screen on both iOS and Android for an app-like experience:

• iOS: Tap the Share button in Safari, then "Add to Home Screen"
• Android: Tap the menu in Chrome, then "Install App" or "Add to Home Screen"

Once installed, SpendScan works like a native app—fast, reliable, and with offline capability for viewing your existing data.

Note: We don't currently have separate native iOS or Android apps. Our Progressive Web App provides all the functionality you need across all platforms.

SpendScan automatically categorises your purchases into 14 default categories, including:

Vegetables, Fruits, Meat & Fish, Dairy & Eggs, Drinks, Tinned & Dried Goods, Sweets & Snacks, Healthy Snacks, Pantry Items, Bread & Pastries, Household Items, Deli, Frozen Foods, and Other.

These categories are designed to cover the vast majority of grocery purchases while remaining simple enough to be useful. The categorisation happens automatically based on the items detected in your receipts, using our AI's understanding of food types and common grocery items. This automatic categorisation saves you time while ensuring consistency in how your spending is tracked.

You can also create your own custom categories to match your shopping habits. All category names are available in the 15 supported languages, making it easy to use SpendScan in your preferred language. Custom categories are particularly useful if you have specific dietary needs or want to track spending in ways that match your personal budgeting approach.

📤 Data Export

Export your data in multiple formats for use in other applications. This feature is particularly valuable if you want to combine your SpendScan data with other financial tracking tools, create custom reports, or maintain your own records outside of the platform:
